# Aktualisierungen & Versionskompatibilität
GeoDin Onsite enthält eine **automatische Aktualisierungsprüfung**. Kurz nach dem Starten der Anwendung verbindet sich das System mit dem GeoDin-Ressourcenserver, um zu überprüfen, ob eine neuere Version verfügbar ist.
* Wenn eine Aktualisierung gefunden wird, erscheint ein Benachrichtigungsfeld.
* Durch Auswählen von **Aktualisieren** wird das neueste Installationsprogramm heruntergeladen.
* Das Installationsprogramm entfernt automatisch die Vorige Version und installiert die neue.
Dieser Prozess stellt sicher, dass Benutzer immer Zugriff auf die neuesten Funktionen, Verbesserungen und Sicherheitskorrekturen haben.
#### 1. Abwärtskompatibilität
Alle neuen Versionen von GeoDin Onsite sind mit **Abwärtskompatibilität**. Das bedeutet, dass alle Daten, die in älteren Versionen erstellt wurden, weiterhin geöffnet und in neueren Releases verwendete werden können.
#### 2. Vorwärtskompatibilität
Die Umkehrung ist jedoch nicht garantiert. Wenn ein Kollege mit einer neueren Version arbeitet und eine Datei erstellt, ist diese Datei in einer älteren Version der Software möglicherweise nicht zugänglich. Aus diesem Grund wird dringend empfohlen, dass alle Teammitglieder ihre Installationen auf dem neuesten Stand beibehalten.
